This runs a Norman Rockwell for its money. Excellent!

In this painting, using my photo as a guide I lightly sketched the scene on the canvas. I then laid in wash backgrounds to establish my darks and lights. On top of this I did a more detail drawing for accuracy. Then painted in final colors making corrections to the base drawing if necessary. I handle my floral art in the same general steps. For still lifes I don't work from photos but the same above steps apply. Thanks Joanne, for all your generous comments on all my art.

Hi Bob, Love your work! If you don't mind, I'm really interested in how this image comes about. Do you start with a photo you've taken and somehow end up with out line or do you draw the entire image and then start painting it? I can't get over the details.. I am truely interested in how you do this. Someday I want to pick up my paint brush again :) This painting is truely a masterpiece as are the rest of your work:) Thanks!

Fine Arts studies and a Vietnam Combat Artist assignment backs up my long career as an illustrator, designer and art director in the Washington, D.C. area. Over the years, my artwork has been displayed at the White House, Pentagon, U.S. Park Service and the National Air & Space Museum. Now semi-retired from the commercial scene, I take great pleasure in creating art of my own choosing without any agency demands. Favorite subjects now include scenes of Key West, Florida, rural Tennessee and my personal images of Vietnam. 1st Place winner in the first annual Johnson City Veterans art show 2013 "The Creative Warrior." 2010 "Great Smoky Mountains "Wildflower Artist Of The Year." Some commisssions accepted, particularly those of a...
