Artist's Description

On 13, Nov. 1965, Troop A, 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division repelled a fierce Viet Cong attack. A driver of one of the armored personnel vehicles Specialist 4th Class William D. Burnett was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his bravery while moving many wounded comrades to safety as he engaged the enemy hand-to-hand. Much heroism was displayed that day on what was the unit's first major action. This skill and heroism is what defined the Vietnam veteran and set the standard for all who followed. I salute my fellow Big Red One comrades. For all who reads this post, I suggest they read the full narrative of this battle. It can be easily found on the internet.

About Bob George

Bob George

Fine Arts studies and a Vietnam Combat Artist assignment backs up my long career as an illustrator, designer and art director in the Washington, D.C. area. Over the years, my artwork has been displayed at the White House, Pentagon, U.S. Park Service and the National Air & Space Museum. Now semi-retired from the commercial scene, I take great pleasure in creating art of my own choosing without any agency demands. Favorite subjects now include scenes of Key West, Florida, rural Tennessee and my personal images of Vietnam. 1st Place winner in the first annual Johnson City Veterans art show 2013 "The Creative Warrior." 2010 "Great Smoky Mountains "Wildflower Artist Of The Year." Some commisssions accepted, particularly those of a...
