Thanks so much Dave. That was a rough day for the Big Red One. I'm in touch with one of the medics from that battle. He soon afterwards was commissioned and eventually retired a Colonel.

Amen to your description of the Valor shown and not forgetting these men. I love your ability to bring me into this historic moment. I feel sad, but reverent.

Thanks Dave. I wouldn't wish this on anybody but the general public should know what really goes on out there. It isn't a video game that you can walk away from... you might be brought out in a body bag. God bless you and all our Big Red Ones. Bob

They say a picture is worth a thousand words but there arent enough words to describe this painting. Well done Bob

Artist's Description

Painting depicts soldiers bringing back their fallen comrades during the battle of Xom Bo II. This action took place on 17 June, 1967. Units from the Big One's 1/16th and 2/28th Infantry regiments were involved resulting in the loss of 36 U.S.
Soldiers. Contributing to the painting were photos taken by unnamed soldiers engaged in the action. Much credit is due them for capturing those moments. As a Vietnam veteran and member of the Big Red One I salute the valor shown that
day. They should never be forgotten.
Watermark will not appear on purchased prints.

Fine Arts studies and a Vietnam Combat Artist assignment backs up my long career as an illustrator, designer and art director in the Washington, D.C. area. Over the years, my artwork has been displayed at the White House, Pentagon, U.S. Park Service and the National Air & Space Museum. Now semi-retired from the commercial scene, I take great pleasure in creating art of my own choosing without any agency demands. Favorite subjects now include scenes of Key West, Florida, rural Tennessee and my personal images of Vietnam. 1st Place winner in the first annual Johnson City Veterans art show 2013 "The Creative Warrior." 2010 "Great Smoky Mountains "Wildflower Artist Of The Year." Some commisssions accepted, particularly those of a...
