Dave, your kind words are always appreciated. I remember the Ap Cha Do village area - close to Lai Khe. To refresh my memory I googled up some info. You guys inflicted big damage that day, especially in the amount of supplies found. By coincidence that Nov. 5, '66 was the very day I left 'Nam.

Bob in November of 1966 my unit engaged the enemy in the Iron Triangle in what became known as the battle at Ap Cha Do ( if memory serves me correctly). This painting is so realistic it`s like stepping back in time. I am truly greatful for you and your art Bob. We will never be forgotten thanks to men like yourself....thank you brother...Dave

Thanks for your service Gene. My painting is for all you guys whenever you served. I was in the Big Red One in '65, '66 and with the Black Lions as a combat artist the day General Ware was killed. Everyone I know is very proud of your unit.

Thanks for colorizing a piece of my unit's history. I was a 'Black Lion' (2/28th) after the fact. I was in Germany from 75-78.

deserved credit is given to those unknown photographers who took the black and white photos this painting is based on.

About Bob George

Fine Arts studies and a Vietnam Combat Artist assignment backs up my long career as an illustrator, designer and art director in the Washington, D.C. area. Over the years, my artwork has been displayed at the White House, Pentagon, U.S. Park Service and the National Air & Space Museum. Now semi-retired from the commercial scene, I take great pleasure in creating art of my own choosing without any agency demands. Favorite subjects now include scenes of Key West, Florida, rural Tennessee and my personal images of Vietnam. 1st Place winner in the first annual Johnson City Veterans art show 2013 "The Creative Warrior." 2010 "Great Smoky Mountains "Wildflower Artist Of The Year." Some commisssions accepted, particularly those of a...
